Our delivery service exists to support local patients who genuinely struggle to get to the pharmacy, and those who would rather stay with us even though they cannot always collect in person. It is a chargeable service run alongside our NHS work — but if you are housebound or have a clinical need, please talk to us, because charges can be waived.
Please read before requesting free delivery
Prescription delivery is not funded by the NHS. Every free delivery we make is paid for out of our own resources — our staff time, our fuel, our hours. Those resources are finite.
That means we keep them for the patients who genuinely cannot get to us: people who are housebound, frail, or have a clinical need. If you do not need free delivery, please do not ask for it — every exemption given where it is not needed is one we cannot give to someone who is.
We are not asking you to prove anything or justify yourself. We are asking you to be honest with us, so we can be there for your neighbour who has no other way of getting their medication. If you can collect, or can pay the small charge, that is what keeps this service alive for everyone else.
Charges
Delivery is charged because it is not an NHS-funded service — it costs the pharmacy time, fuel and staff hours. Charging a fair amount is what allows us to keep offering it, and to waive it for the patients who need it most.
Per delivery within Chudleigh, Chudleigh Knighton and Bovey Tracey.
Per delivery to addresses outside Chudleigh, Chudleigh Knighton and Bovey Tracey.
A full year of deliveries for one annual payment — usually the best value if you receive regular monthly prescriptions.
Same-day delivery is not guaranteed and depends entirely on staffing and workload on the day. Where we can do it, a £7 charge applies.
Support
We can provide an exemption from delivery charges within our local catchment, subject to need. This is aimed at patients who are housebound, or who have a specific clinical need that makes collecting in person difficult or unsafe.
If you fall into this group, the £65 yearly plan is usually the most economical option for regular monthly prescriptions.
These are guidelines rather than strict rules — every situation is different, and we would always rather you asked. Speak to a member of our team or call 01626 854977 and we will talk it through discreetly. Nobody should go without their medication because of a delivery charge.
To be straight with you: we are a small independent pharmacy, and every free delivery is time and fuel funded out of our own pocket. That means we have to prioritise the patients who genuinely cannot get to us. If we cannot waive the charge in your case, it is not a judgement about you — it is what keeps the service running for people who have no alternative. If you do not need it, please leave it for someone who does.
Exemptions are assessed individually, granted at the pharmacy's discretion, and reviewed from time to time as circumstances change.
How it works
We deliver on Tuesdays and Fridays. Please allow enough time between ordering your repeat prescription and your delivery day — your GP needs time to approve it and we need time to dispense it.
Make sure your prescription has been ordered — through PharmAppy, your GP surgery, or by speaking to us. Once it is with us and ready, it joins the next delivery run.
Medicines cannot be left unattended, so you or someone you trust must be at the address to receive them. We cannot leave prescriptions in porches, with neighbours, or in safe places.
If your plans change, call 01626 854977 as early as you can and we will rearrange. A quick phone call saves a wasted journey and gets your medication to you sooner.
